“Feeling Place”, the first flash from Beev Rations “version 2.0”

In a single full of novelties, Beev Rations takes what it seems to be a turning point in its career.

Indeed, Feeling Place features a fresh and new sound in every aspect, vocals, arrangements and production, bringing also inedit compositive landscapes and deepening into some of the juicy lyrics we started to see in previous EPs, this time in an partying and very lively mood, where Alan James take out from his top hat (never better said, seeing the cover picture) another magic, intense and unexpected blend of genres: southern rock and psychedelic.

A big part of this -we could say- “Beev Rations 2.0” comes from the fact that, for the first time, a BRs song is backed by instrumental tracks made by session musicians (Alan call them The Looping Crew*), through high quality recordings that came with each track divided in multiple sections. Those were then placed, modified and mixed personally by Alan to craft the whole song, including some cool effects and winks, house brand.

All this let him to focus more in vocals, choruses and edition, for he mostly used to record himself singing and playing rythm guitar in the same take, while he later would record the rest of the instruments separately, to finally mix, edit and masterize it altogether; which could be a little too much for just one person or one-man-band. So it's the relief and wellbeing the main reason for this change. Anyway, in this single James has played also cabasa and maracas himself.

And there's an extra hook, suggestive and funny. Feeling Place is equally well supported by an official video that is pretty worth to see and enjoy, making very clear the meaning and power of those inspiring lyrics, that invite us to find and dwell in our own feeling place of wellbeing and fun, regardless where we are at or who we're with at any moment.

A beach video in the middle of February? It had to be Beev Rations. Don't get surprised if, after watching it, you catch yourself humming and dancing all amused (like that happy girl in the beach) in the middle of anywhere. For, furthermore, this is not only catchy but also contagious, in the best way possible.

*A wink for The Wrecking Crew, which were “a loose collective of session musicians based in Los Angeles whose services were employed for thousands of studio recordings in the 1960s and 1970s, including several hundred Top 40 hits. The musicians were not publicly recognized in their era, but were viewed with reverence by industry insiders. They are now considered one of the most successful and prolific session recording units in music history”. (From Wikipedia)

lyrics

My friends ask me where I go,
what's my goal these days.
I say that i only care my
feeling place.
Wellbeing, fun is where I
wanna abide.
You can join me
standing there,
where all come right,
free and fair.
Some of them just look at me and
then go away,
while the others seem to tune their
own feeling place.
So all these places turn to
one to share.
Come together,
see you there,
where all come right,
free and fair.
The old drama is not the case,
now your're in your feeling place.
